Therapist Thursday - Let's Meet our New Manager and Health & Wellbeing Coach, Paula Haynes!

Before I disappear off entirely I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce you to our new Manager, my successor Paula Haynes!

Paula has taken over from me as the new manager at the Wellbeing Centre here in Axminster and is doing a wonderful job already. But, did you know she is also a qualified Health & Wellbeing Coach (College of Naturopathic Medicine, London 2022), Reflexologist (ITEC 2004) qualified in Reflexology for menopause, and Reiki energy coach?

So this week I thought I'd introduce you properly to Paula Haynes....

Paula says....

"When I was in my thirties my father was diagnosed with lung cancer. During his illness he spent some time at a local hospice. I was blown away by the kindness and support that he was given during that time. Some years later I decided that I would like to support others in the way that my father had been. I studied anatomy and physiology, massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology. In 2004 after qualifying, I volunteered as a complementary therapist with Hospiscare and Weldmar Hospiscare, assisting clients and their families in their homes.

I later went onto opening my own business, a shop in Axminster, with therapy rooms, which also sold fair trade, natural and organic skincare products and a range of candles.

The shop and centre did well, but like many high street businesses it had its problems, so in 2012 it closed and I went back to working in administration. I was a marketing manager in tourism for several years, until being made redundant in 2020. Not knowing which direction to take next, and so I signed up with a ‘back to work’ life coach. This inspired me, so I then went onto studying at the College of Naturopathic medicine as a wellbeing coach."

"As a Wellbeing Coach my aim is to help and support clients in making positive changes to improve their health and wellbeing, whether it is to improve immunity, diet or assist in making lifestyle changes.

For example I often work with clients who could be...

  • lacking energy, motivation or sense of purpose

  • suffering with recurring illness or viruses

  • Are in peri menopause or menopause and need support

  • struggling with aches and pains, fatigue, hot sweats, brain fog, loss of memory, bloating, constipation or frequent UTI’s

  • craving sugar and struggle with getting a good nights sleep

Using a range of specialist coaching tools and techniques I work with clients to set realistic goals that can easily be achieved and sustained.

Health coaching enables people to create real change in every aspect of their life, including their diet, fitness levels, career, relationships, home environment and general wellness.

Health coaching can assist with a range of health-related issues including weight loss, stress, digestive problems, blood sugar regulation and detoxification. I can assist with meal plans and healthy choices, exercise and sleep routines, stress management plans and problem-solving strategies.

My health and wellbeing coaching and/or consultation sessions give you the opportunity to talk about your conditions or concerns, your dreams, or your goals.

The action plans are created by you, you have the answers and with specific questioning and other specialist coaching tools we are able to uncover blocks, hurdles, and challenges which can sometimes inhibit you from reaching your true potential.

Health & Wellbeing Coaching can help you to achieve healthy goals and targets. Perhaps you have been wanting to lose weight or improve your sleep, improve your immunity or just wanting to feel better.

Women’s health coaching packages include Perimenopause, the transition to menopause, Menopause - embracing the change, PMS - balancing the cycles."

Paula also offer Reflexology services....

"Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy which works by applying gentle pressure to specific points, usually on the feet, but I am also able to apply face reflexology. The points are known as reflexes as they mirror or reflect the organs and structures of the body, along with the physiological emotional states.

Clinical studies have demonstrated the efficacy of reflexology in improving a variety of symptoms and conditions.

Over the past few years I have been working with women who are transitioning through menopause, reflexology has proven to be particularly beneficial in reducing hot sweats, improving sleep, anxiety, low mood and many other associated symptoms."

Paula is married with two grown up daughters, one is a lawyer in London and the other a midwife in Glasgow. She lives in Somerset, and loves walking with her two Tibetan terrors (terriers!)
