Volunteers are important to the successful running of our business - We have a small team of Foodbank volunteers who work hard to distribute vital supplies to the local community. We also have a wonderful volunteer gardener, who gives up his time to tend to our weeds, shrubs and lawn area. The Centre reception area is also manned by volunteers - but we are always in desperate need of additional help - if you love working with people and would like to support the volunteer team - we would love to hear from you!
Research has shown, volunteering can help reduce stress and increase postive, relaxed feelings by releasing dopamine. By spending time in service to others, volunteers report feeling a sense of meaning, purpose and appreciation. By increasing social interaction it can help build a support system based on common interests.
A typical day as a reception volunteer - answering the telephone, greeting visitors, taking enquiries for therapies or classes, helping tidy our leaflets or noticeboards, supporting our Centre manager with paperwork or speaking with clients. No two days are the same!
